About Me
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog!
MiHealth Matters is for folks who have diverse interests and are innately curious. That might seem strange for a healthcare blog. So here is the why!
For most doctors and patients, health care is very transactional- you fall sick and go to the doc and one of three things happens: you get well; you are diagnosed with an illness, or you don’t get well.
My worldview is a bit different: most health is linked to what you do in between the visits to your doc. So, my blog is about lifestyle, philosophy, travel, and the art and science of medicine.
And before we start- I believe in masks and vaccines!
Who is @DocPhx?
I am an Internal Medicine doctor. Like most generalists, I have diverse interests including practicing whole-person medicine, teaching, health equity, and an innate sense of curiosity- both within and out of health care. I am passionate about supporting women in medicine and women in society in general. I have worked hard to shatter the glass ceiling. I love medicine, if you want to know more about my professional life, click here.
On a personal level, I have a beautiful and independent daughter, I am married to a physician. I love dogs. My dog Bowie is a rescue Chow who has severe anxiety and is gorgeous to look at until I shaved him- that story is for later. I love to travel especially for medical missions. I love food and when I grow up, I want to have a food truck with a “menu”, cocktails and tea of the day- you know where I am going with this! You just have to wait. Hey- I am human so don’t judge.
I strongly believe that we have a commitment to help others. My parents were self-made and I am the product of education. I strongly believe in supporting education.
Follow me on social media - Twitter @DocPhx, @mdpriya on insta - yeah never thought to brand when I started these accounts. But then I’m a mom of a millennial-
So, I hope that you will join me in a journey of lively conversations and exchange of ideas. Just some rules- this blog is for thoughtful folks. If you see something you don’t agree with, send me a profanity and threat-free response and we will be friends for life. Healthy discourse is good for the heart.
